Children are wonderful (we love our girl!)

Avery was alone in our kitchen Thursday night, after we had come back from Charleston. Ross heard her talking, and our dog Henry was already in bed so he knew she wasn't chatting with him. Ross asked her, "Honey, who were you talking to?" and she answered, "I was talking to God, asking him to give me a baby brother or sister." She really wants to be a big sister, to have a baby in the house to love and help take care of (maybe one day). We catch her doing little things like this every now and then, and it reminds me of a favorite quote Charles Dickens once said, "It is not a slight thing when they, who are so fresh from God, love us." I pray that those of us with children never fail to realize how precious these little people are. I like to believe that God gives us children to draw us closer to him. Having Avery has definitely encouraged me to be the best example I can for her, and although I'm not perfect (she needs to see that too!), I am grateful for the blessings God brings to me through her.

  1. Kids are great! Heather has many a story of Ella asking God for a brother. Unfortunantly in our case, she always wants an OLDER brother. She's wonderfully weird.
